Jamaica Kingsmen have certainly found a way to stay alive in the tournament after a difficult start. They have now climbed to 2nd place, although they have also played more matches than all other teams. That makes it important for them to maintain this momentum and continue delivering strong performances in the games ahead. That’s all from us for today. We will be back tomorrow with more CPL action, as the Saint Lucia Kings take on the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Do join us!
Rovan Powell: (What does this victory mean?) To be honest, it means everything. You know, it's been a rocky start to the campaign, so it's good to get back-to-back victories. Credit have to be given to the guys, they stick through the tough times, even though it's not over. But they stick through the tough times and they're reaping the reward now. (How good was Keemo Paul?) Yeah, he was fantastic. When he came into the camp, he was just chomping at the bits, ready to go. You know, his career has meandered, and hopefully this is a start for him to get back his career on the right track. (On his leadership) I think it's in two phases, to be honest. I'm trying my best to curb the aggression, to play those long innings, to get those 70, those 75. I haven't got one as yet, but I think the innings that I've played so far is important. And having said that, try my best to finish those games. I think once you perform as a captain, then leadership becomes a little bit easier. Your decision-making becomes a little bit clearer. (On the crowd support) To each and every one, we want to tell you guys, thank you. It's been a long time since CPL cricket has come to this island and it's come back with a bang. People in the stadium supporting us, we feel your love, and we want to say really, really thanks. (How do you keep this momentum?) I think it's for us to sit and have those little discussions. Every venue around the Caribbean will ask something different of us, and it's for us to just sit down and come up with our plans. The guys are in a good frame of mind, and we see how much we can stretch this winning streak.
Jason Holder: (Your reflections on this game?) Yeah, we just couldn't, probably just never got the momentum going. You know, at the halfway stage, I thought they were on par, with the heavy dew, and their bowlers, I felt as though we should have gotten the runs. We just never had a really good start and then never had the momentum. (You never really got going with the bat?) Yeah, I think you are spot on there. I think, as I said before, at the halfway stage, I was pretty pleased with the bowling effort. You expect one or two balls to go to the boundary at the back end, but I think for the most part, the bowlers were spot on. I mean, our batting, we just never got off to a really good start, and we never had momentum going through the innings. (Mayers’ 20th over, did you miscalculate?) No, I didn't miscalculate, you know. I mean, we had overs from our spinners, but I felt at that stage with Russell and Rovman, they were probably better off hitting the spin. So I backed Kyle to come in and bowl that last over, and I thought he bowled a really good over. (How do you get some consistency?) Yeah, well, we've got some games coming up. We've got our home leg coming up, you know. We've got one game in another day or two. So, for us, it's just getting some consistent cricket, finalizing our combinations, understanding where we need to improve, just improve.
Keemo Paul: (What pleased you the most?) I think definitely getting some runs for the team, you know. We were in a bit of a situation, and the coach gave me a role. He backed me. Also, you [Daren Ganga] motivated me earlier, telling me I was going to have a big game. So, thank you. But all in all, my batting pleased me a lot tonight. (What was your mindset in that innings?) Well, look, the coach backed me. He told me if we were in a situation in any game, I was going to bat early. And he backed me to play the reverse sweep. He said, with all confidence, go and do it if you have to. So that gave me the motivation to go and do it. And then Rovman also, he told me just bat a few balls, the wicket wasn't too easy. I know once I got to the 15 mark, I knew I was in, and I knew I was set. (Your thought processes when bowling?) Well, we just tried to hit the stumps as hard as possible, and also use the wicket, because the ball was gripping, or slower balls were gripping. So use the wicket, and at the back end our plan is just to go wide yorkers. (Is this a sign of things to come?) Yes, definitely, I want to contribute. I'm trying as hard as possible. I'm working behind the scenes very hard. So hopefully, things could click and I could continue being consistent. (On the crowd support) Fantastic, extraordinary, you know, the support every time a boundary is hit, every time we take a wicket, the noise, you know, it's electrifying. The people of Jamaica, thank you. It was wonderful and I feel right at home.

22:55 Local Time, 03:55 GMT, 09:25 IST: Jamaica Kingsmen shave registered their second straight win of the tournament, climbing to second in the points table after defeating the Patriots. Having beaten Trinbago Knight Riders in their previous outing, the Kingsmen have continued their strong run with another impressive performance. Batting first, Jamaica were in early trouble after losing wickets cheaply. However, Rovman Powell and Keemo Paul steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. Powell contributed 49, while Paul produced a superb knock of 65 to guide the Kingsmen to a competitive 181/6. The Patriots never found their rhythm in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Kevin Wickham fought hard with a gritty knock but received little support as partners continued to fall at the other end. The Jamaica bowlers delivered a disciplined and all-round effort, keeping the pressure on throughout the innings while consistently picking up wickets. Keemo Paul was the standout performer, completing a near-perfect game with 65 runs, three wickets and impressive catching in the field. Stay around for the presentation..
