Pant departed off the first ball after lunch, but Jurel carried on and with the help of Manav Suthar and Siraj, brought up his second Test hundred. There was a rain break between those two partnerships, which not only delayed Jurel reaching his hundred but also India's declaration. They finally declared after crossing 500 and gave themselves a few overs at the Sri Lankan batters, but the light deteriorated after just two balls from Siraj. Another delay followed, but play eventually resumed and Sri Lanka lost a couple of wickets, Udara and Jayasuriya, the latter coming in as a nightwatchman.
