Chris Green | Barbados Tridents captain: [On winning after four losses] It feels good. Any time you win, it puts a smile on your face. But I think really proud of everyone’s performance tonight. It’s probably our closest efforts to a complete game of cricket. Fielding was tough out there for both sides. It was very wet, a lot of dew, a lot of rain had fallen. So, yeah, really proud of our efforts and those two batting at the end seeing us home was fantastic. [On the bowling group’s improvement in the last two games] Look, I don’t know if I can take all the credit for that. I think the execution the last two games has been fantastic. Jakeem Pollard coming in in these two games, impressing straight away as a youngster in his home conditions. Obviously the excitement’s there, but naturally the nerves are there and I’ve been really impressed and proud of him, the way he’s gone about it and really stood up to that opportunity and grabbed it with both hands. All our young players have done that since we’ve come home. So that’s the thing that I’ve asked for this season. There’s a lot of senior players around this group, but the youngsters are the ones that are going to win us this tournament. [On the instruction during the nervy run chase] Look, I don’t think there was a discussion we had just around Rivaldo (Clarke) looking to take it on, but to me it looked like Quinton and Rivaldo were well and truly ahead of that, realising that they’d batted us into a position to now take down their options and what we saw was fantastic. So, like I said, really proud of the way they orchestrated that run chase and saw us home. [On the message to the Barbadian people] Thank you. That noise at the end was fantastic. The atmosphere last night was awesome. We’ve got three more games. Depending on results, we win two of those, we’re qualified. If we win three, obviously we’re definitely in. So our goal is home finals. It’s one game at a time and we look forward to our next opportunity.

Roston Chase | Saint Lucia Kings captain: [On the crucial moments they missed] Well, I can’t really pinpoint any moment. I just thought that we were about 15-20 runs short. I thought we left it out there. We were in a good position coming into the last five, four overs and then we didn’t get that momentum in the end. We got too many wickets in clubs at the end there and we got too many wickets and then, having a low score like that, I think you need to get wickets early in the power play. We didn’t really get too many wickets and then we put down some crucial chances. I thought we were poor in the field as well. Too many misfields as well. [On what they can learn from two losses in a row] Well, it’s the same thing basically. I just think we need to really key moments. Every time we seem to be in a good position, we let the opposition back into the game. So it’s just for us, when we get that momentum, to just carry it as deep as possible and finish well at the end. [On the must-win game in Guyana] Yeah, well, Guyana, you probably get a lot of spin. The wicket’s probably going to keep a bit lower, so I think we have to make plans around that. [On captaining against Barbados as a Barbadian himself] Yeah, it’s franchise cricket, so I’m not really Barbadian at this point. I’m St Lucian at this point, so it is what it is.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman | Player of the match: [On his bowling plan for the surface] First of all, congratulations to the Barbados fans who came here to the ground. Yeah, yesterday we bowled very well, so same plan I apply today. So wicket to wicket and good length, so also the grip also is wet as well, but still I bowl good length and wicket to wicket. It’s my plan. [On playing cricket in the Caribbean] I love it. This is my fourth time I come to Caribbean. I love and enjoy everywhere, like in Caribbean and also the ground as well, in supporting every team. So it’s good. [On the win and playing in front of the home crowd] So it’s very thankful a lot from these people who came into the ground and supporting all of us. So we’re happy.

Though King briefly struggled to connect with the ball, he quickly found his groove by taking on Goodridge for a sequence of 4, 6, and 4 in a single over to make up for early dot balls, while his opening partner Zachary Carter timed the ball crisply to keep the scoreboard ticking smoothly. However, once both openers departed, Saint Lucia Kings spinners tightened the screws and completely stifled the scoring, with Clarke’s initial struggles pushed the required run rate up to a daunting 8.17 runs per over by the 14th over mark. Just as the pressure reached its peak, the match turned on its head during the 15th and 16th overs as Quinton de Kock and Clarke launched a fierce counter-attack. The pair hammered 15 and 16 runs in consecutive overs to bring up a game changing 50-run partnership to leave the Tridents needing just 20 runs off the final 24 balls. Even after a disciplined 17th over yielded only 4 runs, De Kock remained untroubled and comfortably wrapped up the chase in the 18th over, capitalizing on a tough outing for Goodridge, who leaked 30 runs in just 1.5 overs. De Kock anchored the response to finish on 47, while Clarke completed his redemption with an unbeaten 36, giving the Tridents and their fans a well-deserved win after 20 days.
