The wobble seam inswinger from Gerald Coetzee, Mendis was caught hopping inside the crease and was struck plumb in front of middle stump. He isn't a tall man and umpire Paul Reiffel took his time before raising the finger. Only a bit of extra bounce could have saved him, but not to be. The review was more in hope and even an umpire's call on hitting would not have been enough for the visitors. Mendis had very little time to react to this nip-backer and was trapped in the crease.
