Alright, it’s time for the big finals. The players are making their way out to the center. The umpires walk out first, followed by the Falcons and then the Kingsmen batters. Wide slip and catching third man in place for Sadaqat.

Amir Jangoo: [On the team’s preparation and atmosphere ahead of the final] So yeah, the vibe is really good and we’re playing for each other. It’s an amazing feeling, obviously we could create history for this amazing franchise, being in the first final. Hopefully we can take it all the way, but yeah preparation has been good. The boys have been super professional, getting what we want out of training and yeah on top of that the vibe in the camp is really good. We have some amazing leaders in the team. [On his role at the top of the order and the team’s batting approach] Yeah, I think obviously in this squad I probably wanted throughout the tournament, but as our skipper said, we need a few players that can make an impact. All the guys know their roles. Here we may not have a couple centuries, we may not have plenty half centuries, but when we go there to bat, it’s all about making an impact, with bat and ball actually. So yeah, that’s what we’ve been doing as a team and I think that’s what made us so successful. It’s not the individual performances, but everyone coming together and putting their hand up. [On facing the Kingsmen and the key to winning the final] Yeah, I think it’s all about us playing cricket. I think with the ball we have been doing an amazing job, with the bat as well. I think it’s all about a team effort. As you said, I’ve been a part of that Tallawahs franchise, Kingsmen now. I know the leadership of Rovman Powell. He’s such an amazing person on and off the field. So I know it’s no surprise that they have reached to this final. I think it was the same road they took when I was part of the team, coming through fourth place and getting that momentum. So we know that is key. So hopefully we can break that momentum when they come to bat, or when we start off with the bat first.

Andre Russell: [On the team’s grit and never-say-die attitude] You know, we are from Jamaica, we a little but we tallawah and, that’s a slogan that we live with and, with the way we’ve been playing our last couple of games, I have no doubt. When I came off, I told the guys that they were short 20 runs based on how good the wicket was. We bowling it and we weren’t getting much spin, ball was sliding on perfectly to the bat, so with a little dew around, it would make it easier. So I never doubted that we wouldn’t get that score and the guys batted exceptionally well, so hats off to the batters. [On preparing for finals] Make sure that I get enough rest, not think about the game too much because I approach these games as just another game. Sometimes emotions get in your way and you think like, it’s a final and you have to do this different or do this. It’s just the same process for me. So whatever I do, I follow that same tradition, warming up, don’t do too much because it’s a final. Save all the energy for the game so you can leave everything on the park. [On his body and dealing with the challenge] Oh, when I got hit in Jamaica in my head, it was affecting me still, but I kept pushing and I kept pushing until I had to take a break from the game, missing three games based on the dizziness that I was getting. But when I came back, it still come back here and there, and I find when I push myself, I’m still not fully recovered because it was a terrible hit. So, everything in this sport is tough, we have to be tough as well. So it’s just one last push for me and hopefully that will bring me through.

Pitch report by Ian Bishop: Final of CPL 2026 and just to update you first of all about the weather. It’s a high of 29 and feels like 35 because it’s a bit muggy, it’s a bit humid, a 5% chance of rain. That hopefully won’t eventuate and a little wind coming across the ground. [On the ground dimensions] Now the dimensions, if you’re bowling from the Malcolm Marshall end, it’s about 63 meters square either side and 72 down the ground. So a nice little central feeling to the surface. [On the pitch used in the previous game] For our Republic Bank pitch check though, we are, on the pitch that was played on on Friday night, the last game, and over 200 was scored in each innings, and maybe part of that is because this pitch had little tinges of grass holding it together. It’s not a lot, but just enough to hold it together. It was true, spun a little bit. [On the pitch being used for the final] However, tonight we’re moving on to this surface here, which doesn’t quite have those little tinges of live grass. It’s pretty bald, but the hope is that they’ve rolled it hard because I can still see one or two dark areas. Hopefully it stays together quite firm and that we get a nice final. [On the expected scoring] We’re hoping for something over 160, 170. Once again, if the batsmen can hold their own, the bowlers will have to show all their skills. So all in all, we’re well set for the grand final of Republic Bank 2026.
