Sunrisers Leeds vs London Spirit, 20th Match, The Hundred Men's Competition 2026 - CommentarySUL vs LDN, 20th Match, The Hundred Men's Competition 2026 - Commentary
20 matches done, 14 more to go. Blink and you'll miss it, folks! The tournament is flying by. We have another double-header lined up tomorrow, so do remember to tune in for both games. Cheers!!
Rickelton (2/2): [On his message to the bowlers at the halfway stage] I think just try not be too predictable, I suppose. The wicket's good, it's obviously in favor of the batters, but play with your fields, execute different deliveries, but try not get too predictable. They've got a very good batting lineup too. So if you can always just stay one step ahead, accept that the ball's going to be flying, but if you can keep fighting and winning each delivery, you obviously will get us over the line. [On carrying momentum into the next match against Birmingham Phoenix] Yeah, big. The trick is five wins in an eight-game tournament is kind of the benchmark. But you've got to win your games at home. If you can pick up a few away from home, it really makes it easier.
Ryan Rickelton | Match Hero (1/2): [On the conditions] Great wicket out there today. Both teams batted incredibly well. Tough night for the bowlers, but, yeah, chuffed to get over the line and contribute. [On watching Mitchell Marsh and Harry Brook from the other end] Yeah, it was really good. I thought Mitch was being a bit selfish, not giving me any in the powerplay, but looking back at it, the way he got us off to a great start really made it easier. And then Brookie's just a freak. Some of the shots and some of the things he can do is, things that I wish I could do. But, yeah, amazing to be out there, watch the guys at their best. [On his mindset while batting on such a good wicket] Cash in, I guess. Yeah, I was a little bit nervous. I haven't got a real score in this tournament yet, so I was really looking to maximize the opportunity. Mitch took a lot of pressure off me and allowed me just to kind of watch and just see what the wicket's doing and get into it. But once it kind of gets in your area and you realize the wicket's that good, you've got to get as many as you can and just go hard.
21:50 local, 20:50 GMT, 02:20 IST: The Spirit only had one option with the bat, which is, to see ball, hit ball. They did come out with that exact approach, but ended up losing 4 wickets in 20 balls. Those wickets not only knocked the life out of the run chase, but also forced the visitors to play with a bit of caution in a bid to prevent damage to their NRR. Brevis and Willey did entertain with a 74-run stand off 40 balls, but that and Willey's late charge only helped in reducing the defeat margin. One of those days where you would not want to be a bowler as the batters made merry of some splendid batting conditions here at Leeds. Stick around for the post-match reactions...
