PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Mitchell Marsh | Hero of the Match: [On the importance of the win] Yeah, absolutely. Today was an important game for both teams. To be honest, it's felt like every game's, we're either in the finals or out of the finals. So, yeah, one game to go. But I thought we played brilliantly today. [On his form and approach at the top of the order] I've played four games here. It always helps. My sole focus along with Ricks is to get us off to the best start I possibly can and not read too much into the game. That's helped me be really clear on what I'm trying to do. I maybe thought there was a couple of bowlers that could have got this (award) today. But I thought, yeah, all-round performance. [On how the surface changed during the innings] Yeah, I thought in the powerplay it felt like a really good wicket, maybe a touch slower than the ones we've played on previously here. And then once the ball got older, they started to sort of go into the wicket, and it got pretty tough to bat. So I thought the way that we adapted as a team with the ball, we used our slower balls, we got it into the wicket, and the boys executed fantastically. And, yeah, it was really good.
17:22 Local Time, 16:22 GMT, 21:52 IST: A thumping win for Sunrisers Leeds in the end! Having posted a daunting total, their defense was expertly backed up by the bowlers, who worked in tandem to stem the run flow. Nathan Ellis was at his miserly best, picking up two wickets, but it was Brydon Carse who truly impressed with figures of 3/24. For Welsh Fire, only Short got going at the top - once he was dismissed, Root and the rest of the lineup found the going tough. The Sunrisers seal a whopping 71-run victory, giving their net run-rate a massive boost and leaving them sitting pretty in second place on the points table with 20 points, which consolidates their position for the knockouts. Things go worse for the Welsh Fire as this loss would dent their chances for the qualification and their run-rate also take a beating.
