September 10: Finn Allen joins Melbourne Stars

After two seasons with the Perth Scorchers, Finn Allen has signed a three-year deal with the Melbourne Stars. The hard-hitting New Zealand opener was the leading run-scorer last season, scoring 466 runs during the Scorchers' title-winning campaign.

September 10: Tim Seifert signs one-year deal with Sydney Sixers

Sydney Sixers signed Tim Seifert, the 31-year-old New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter. Seifert has played 20 matches in the BBL, all for the Melbourne Renegades in the last two seasons, and became only the second player from the franchise to score a century after Aaron Finch.

September 9: Adam Zampa moves to Hobart Hurricanes

Adam Zampa confirmed his move from the Melbourne Renegades to the Hobart Hurricanes by signing a two-year contract with the Tasmanian franchise. Australia's leading T20I wicket-taker and the most prolific spinner in BBL history, Zampa has taken 138 wickets in 121 BBL appearances at an economy rate of 7.28. Hobart will be his fifth BBL club after previous stints with Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.

September 8: Tom Curran signs with Brisbane Heat

Brisbane Heat secured Tom Curran, their first overseas signing for the 2026-27 season. Curran has previously played for the Sydney Sixers and the Melbourne Stars in the BBL.

September 1: Ben Stokes joins Adelaide Strikers

Ben Stokes' much-anticipated BBL return was confirmed after he signed with the Adelaide Strikers for the entirety of the 2026-27 season. Stokes, who last played a BBL game in 2015 and hasn't played any T20 cricket since 2023, returns to the franchise cricket circuit after announcing his retirement from international cricket. Stokes is said to have signed a contract in excess of 500,000 AUD, which makes him the most high-profile foreign player in the BBL for its 16th edition.
